Thorpland Plantation is arguably the oldest continuously inhabited private home in the South. The estates construction began in 1631 and was completed in 1670. The plantation was called “Thorpland,” after the family estate in England. It is now a plantation of 100 acres owned by the Smith family.

 Here at Thorpland Stables we focus on beginner and intermediate students but we welcome all levels of experience.  We specialize in many different disciplines with SAFETY and HORSEMANSHIP being the top priority at Thorpland Plantation. Ride for pleasure or ride into the ribbons — whatever your desire may be. We teach absolute novice riders to intermediate. Disciplines include, but not limited to… Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat, and Western.
